Inspiring businesses – Hello Harry Birtinya
Any Hello Harry is a great place to eat, but Hello Harry Birtinya has raised the bar!
Who doesn’t love a great burger? … Well, most people do, but sometimes you feel like something else or you have to look for others like your kids, your vegan friend or those who want to eat fewer carbs.
Jacinta and Scott, owners of Hello Harry Birtinya, knew that they had to think outside the box and give their restaurant a little twist.
Jacinta said: “With a background in Emergency Services, my partner “Scott” and I decided to roll the dice and open Hello Harry Birtinya this year in February. Whilst it was daunting and we knew very little about running a business, we had a clear vision of what we wanted to achieve with the brand.”
They already loved the product. It is fresh, tasty and the menu has plenty of options for burgers, salads, and sides. Also, they knew that the area really needed “Somewhere casual and fun to go to with family that caters for kids (and parents)”. It had to be a comfortable place to dine in and even meet with friends “for that cheeky after work knock-off drink!”
This growing suburb will become the home of many young families though, so their restaurant had to be more than a burger joint.
Jacinta explains: “As a Mum of 5-year-old twins and a 2-year-old… a large kids area with a cubby house was a necessity. I created a “Kids Healthy Grazing Platter” and introduced this as a Blackboard Special. It includes a selection of Carrot, Cucumber, Strawberries, Sultanas and Avocado Dip as well as strips of grilled chicken displayed beautifully on a breadboard for $7. Wow… wasn’t this a hit!”
Parents started sharing their amazement and they got requests for it every day (even though it was not an item on the menu). “We noticed parents will pop in before their Coles or Aldi shop mid-morning or mid-afternoon, enjoy a break while their kids play in the kid’s area and occasionally come back to graze off their platter.” Jacinta and Scott are really happy to see customers relaxed and enjoying at their restaurant. “One Dad comes in regularly, orders a beer for himself and a Grazing Platter for his 2yr old and they just hang out… now a ritual.” Isn’t that a wonderful way to relax and spend time with your little ones?
As if that wasn’t a good enough way to share the joy with the local community, they make the most to get involved. Not only they order alcohol from our local suppliers but also participate in charity fundraising and sponsoring Kid’s Sporting Teams such as Kawana Junior Rugby League. Inspiring businesses are the engine of our community and Hello Harry Birtinya is certainly one of them.
It doesn’t end there!! They provide exciting experiences such as live music, Wednesday wings nights and other wonderful events. Don’t forget to follow them on their social media to be the first to know. We are very excited to see what they have going on for Halloween!
Did you get some ideas?? For us the main learning is “think outside the box”, nothing new comes from doing the same thing.
